Former Namibian President Sam Nujoma has been admitted to hospital in Windhoek. It’s believed that the founding father of the Namibian Republic is in a stable condition.
Born on 12 May 1929, Nujoma is synonymous with the Namibian struggle for independence.
He took as Namibian President in 1990 and stepped down in 2005, to hand over power to his successor President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
Nujoma once received the order of the champions of O.R. Tambo in Gold for his opposition to the then government of Apartheid South Africa and he fought alongside the South African freedom fighters during the struggle.
Namibia’s presidency has wished Nujoma well.
The Namibian former liberation movement South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) enjoys close ties with the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa.
The former Namibian President has always been hailed as a beacon of hope to the Namibian nation and world at large, guided by the sacred of unity.
