Ghana is set to implement a visa-free entry policy for all Namibian passport holders, effective January 6, 2025.This initiative, approved by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on December 18, 2024, positions Ghana as the fifth African nation to offer visa-free access to all African citizens, joining Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin.

Namibians from across the world can now travel to Ghana for business and holiday without needing a visa. This welcomes development offers Namibians in the UK more travel options for fun and business.

Previously, Ghana provided visa-free access to citizens of 26 African nations, while travelers from 25 other African countries could obtain a visa upon arrival. The new policy aims to enhance African integration and cooperation, aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a united and prosperous Africa.

While the policy has been lauded for promoting intra-African trade and mobility, some critics argue that its implementation may be premature and could pose challenges that need to be addressed.
